Throughout Tesco we are doing more to use less energy
- In 2006 we invested more than £65m in technology to cut carbon emissions.
- By 2008 we will have halved our energy use in-store in just eight years.
- We’re spending £100 million to find more practical ways of using renewable energy.
- Over the next five years we will spend more than £500m reducing energy use.

- Halving the price of energy-efficient light bulbs.
- Providing bio-degradable carrier bags.
- Looking at ways of labelling our products so shoppers can compare their carbon footprint easily.
- Recycling over 70% of all our store waste.
We have recently announced that we are funding the establishment of the UK’s only Sustainable Consumption Institute that will promote fresh thinking and explore vital areas of research into cutting carbon emissions.
